EXPLORE
THE PROBLEMS

July 2022, during a journey to explore the green and black tea production process in four Northwestern provinces of Vietnam: Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, and Yen Bai, we stumbled upon a sad reality in this area..

Issue 1: Wasteful Biomass Disposal

Burning hills before planting new crops.

Branches and leaves left after wood harvesting.

The biomass sources after agricultural and forestry exploitation are wasted, and improper handling leads to environmental pollution.

Issue 2: High-Cost Traditional Burning Methods and Environmental Pollution

Using coal as a fuel source.

Using wood as a fuel source.

Local residents, small businesses, and even factories resort to traditional burning methods, relying on costly fossil fuels that harm workers' health and pollute the environment.

According to data from the Center for Creative Consulting and Sustainable Development Research in 2020, the total amount of biomass burned annually is more than 5 million tons.
